About the Founder

Seeking Angels Foundation is the natural progression of the path I have been on throughout my life. Hello, my name is Ron Dobson. I am no stranger to PTSD. My family has suffered the tragic loss of many of our family members. We have had to learn how to cope with these tragedies.

Born in Phoenix Arizona, Raised in Southern California, I have lived in Colorado Springs Colorado, Loreto Baja California Sur, Hawaii, and Seattle Washington. I guess I call all these place’s home when I visit them.

I have three children, Bianca and Juan who I adopted in Loreto when I married their mother in 1994. In 1995 we had a third child who we named after my late sister Laurie.

In the adjacent photo from 2017 my daughter Laurie and I created and filmed a documentary we called Planet Salvation and we formed an organization by that name as well. We hired a film crew from Georgia to fly out and scuba dive with us while filming the dying coral and the lack of fish and critters in the coastal areas of Kona, on The Big Island of Hawaii. The documentary did not take off due to climate change denial at the time, however we remain advocates for our planet.

Every Dollar Counts, Invest In Someone’s Future

Seeking Angels Foundation depends on donations to help establish a lasting difference and future in the lives of our members.  Our current needs include rent for our facilities and insurance, transportation for our members to and from our events.  We also need to replace our current pickup truck and events trailer with newer models, and new sports equipment. Funding for our events and activities is essential for what we do, which includes private fishing charters, fly fishing, build your own custom flyrod workshops, kayaking, hiking, cookouts and more! And, to keep us up running, we happily pay our dedicated staff for their dedication to our cause.

Please help us with whatever you can, Veterans and First Responders are always there for us, but they see more than their share of traumatic situations, let’s turn the table and help them!

Some of the pictures used in this website were taken at events by the Mental Restoration Foundation in Hilo Hawaii, a fine organization where I learned compassion for the members that we helped while I served on their board.

PAIN THAT REVERBERATES THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE

In the path we walk in life most of us have experienced some form of trauma. For some, it takes the form of bullying. For others, it’s physical abuse or sexual abuse that can have a lasting negative impact. Abandonment, whether from an addicted, emotionally absent, or disapproving parent or partner, can leave lasting emotional scars. Loss is another common source of trauma, whether from the death of a loved one, or a divorce, or other loss, these can  result in devastating grief. Even something as seemingly positive as adoption can cause emotional issues as some adoptees struggle with identity issues, feelings of abandonment, or questions of self-worth. Whatever the source, the results are similar.
